Apple and Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Apple and Peanut Butter Dog Treats

These crisp dog treats with chunks of apples and tasty peanut butter made our dog Grace VERY happy. We recently ran out of her treats so I made a new batch using diced apples, cinnamon, peanut butter, oats, and flour. I love when I can make her a treat using simple ingredients we have on hand. Grace devoured her first treat in seconds and patiently stared at me hoping for a second one which is a great sign that she loves them. Side Note: Remember to double-check that your peanut butter does NOT contain Xylitol. This sweetener is highly toxic to dogs.

How to Make Apple and Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with a Silpat mat or parchment paper.

Place the diced apples in a mixing bowl. Add the flour, oats, salt, and cinnamon to the bowl and mix until combined.

Whisk together the beaten eggs with the peanut butter then add to the apple mixture and mix until combined. The dough will be dry and crumbly so add about 1/4 cup of warm water, and mix until it sticks together in a ball. Add a little more water if it’s still too dry.

Working on a floured surface, knead the dough 3-4 times until it comes together. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Using dog treat cutters, cut out desired shapes, and place on the prepared baking sheet.
